# Supported Devices

> Check whether your phone supports eSIM before you buy — with the in-app device check, the *#06# dial code, and a reference list of known eSIM-capable models.

<Warning>
  **Check your own phone before you buy — the list below is a reference, not a guarantee.** eSIM support is decided by your device's manufacturer and carrier, and it changes over time. A model can appear on this list and still not accept an eSIM (see [why](#why-a-listed-model-can-still-fail) below). The reliable answer always comes from the device in your hand.
</Warning>

## Check your device in 3 ways

<Steps>
  <Step title="Use the device check in the Fizen App">
    The eSIM section of the app includes a compatibility check. It's the quickest way to see whether your phone can take a Fizen eSIM before you pay.
  </Step>

  <Step title="Dial *#06#">
    Open the Dialer app and dial `*#06#`. If an **EID** barcode with a 32-digit number appears, your device has eSIM hardware.
  </Step>

  <Step title="Look for EID in Settings">
    **iOS:** Settings → General → About → look for the **EID** field.
    **Android:** Settings → About Phone → Status information (or SIM status) → look for **EID**.
  </Step>
</Steps>

<Info>
  Hardware isn't the whole story — the phone must also be **carrier-unlocked**. See [Carrier lock check](#carrier-lock-check) below.
</Info>

## Why a listed model can still fail

The same model is not the same everywhere. A device can match the reference list and still be unable to install an eSIM because:

* **Market variant** — the version sold in one country ships with eSIM, while the version of the same model sold in another country doesn't.
* **Carrier edition** — phones sold bundled by a mobile operator may have eSIM disabled, or be SIM-locked to that operator.
* **Firmware and policy changes** — manufacturers and carriers change firmware, activation policies and device whitelists at any time, without notifying eSIM providers.
* **Managed devices** — company or school phones under MDM or an enterprise policy often block adding an eSIM.
* **Modified or repaired devices** — jailbroken, rooted, unlocked-by-third-party or repaired phones with replaced parts may no longer accept eSIM, even when the model is listed.

<Tip>
  This is exactly why it pays to check first: an eSIM you **haven't installed** can be returned (minus the \$1 fee, where the plan is refundable), but once it's installed it can't. See [1:1 Trip Guarantee & Refunds](/help-center/fizen-esim/trip-guarantee).

### Known regional exceptions

Examples of models that ship **without eSIM** in certain markets. This list isn't exhaustive — market rules change, which is why the device check comes first.

<Warning>
  * **Apple:** no eSIM on iPhone/iPad from Mainland China. Hong Kong & Macao devices have no eSIM except iPhone 13 Mini, 12 Mini, SE 2020, and XS. **Turkey:** eSIM activates automatically only if the device was set up after June 23, 2020 — otherwise contact your carrier. iPads must be Wi-Fi + Cellular models.
  * **Samsung:** no eSIM on devices from China, Hong Kong, and Taiwan; no eSIM on FE models except S23 FE / S24 FE; no eSIM on USA models of S20, S21, and Note 20 Ultra. In South Korea, only S24, S23, Z Fold 5/4, Z Flip 5/4, and A54 5G support eSIM.
  * **Google:** no eSIM on Pixel 3 from Australia, Taiwan, Japan, or US/CA carrier models (except Sprint & Google Fi); no eSIM on Pixel 3a from Southeast Asia or Verizon.
  * **Huawei:** no eSIM on P40 Pro+ or any device purchased in China.
  * **Oppo / Realme, Sharp, Rakuten:** eSIM is mainly supported on Japanese and specific international models.
  * **Sony:** Xperia 10 IV supports eSIM in Europe only.
  * **AT\&T-locked devices** (incl. Surface Duo): no eSIM support.
  * **Motorola, Xiaomi, Vivo, Honor, Nokia, OnePlus, Hammer, TCL, T-Mobile:** availability varies by country/region and carrier — confirm with your carrier or device manufacturer if unsure.
</Warning>

## Carrier lock check

Even with eSIM hardware, a **carrier-locked** phone can't install international eSIMs.

* **iOS:** Settings → General → About → **Carrier Lock**. It must say **No SIM restrictions**.
* **Android:** Settings → Connections → Mobile networks → **Network operators** → turn off "Select automatically". If other networks appear and can be selected, the phone is likely unlocked.

If your phone is locked, contact the carrier you bought it from to unlock it.

## If your device turns out not to support eSIM

* **You haven't installed the eSIM yet** — you can return it for a refund, minus the flat \$1 processing fee, where the plan is refundable. Message the in-app live chat with your Order ID.
* **You already installed it** — an installed eSIM can't be returned, because installation consumes it. If it installed but doesn't work, that's a different case and it's covered: see [1:1 Trip Guarantee & Refunds](/help-center/fizen-esim/trip-guarantee).

<Info>
  Can't find your device, or `*#06#` shows nothing? Contact support via the **in-app live chat** before you buy — we'll help you check. Full list with the latest additions: [Which Phones Support eSIM in 2026](https://blog.fizen.io/which-phones-support-esim-in-2026-the-complete-compatibility-list/).
